SPARQUIN 200mg

SPARQUIN is a flouroquinolone antibiotic that is used to treat chronic bronchitis and community acquired pneumonia.

This medicine attacks gram positive bacteria, mycobacteria, bacteroides fragilis and other anaerobes.

Important information about Medicine

Sparfloxacin is prescribed for different types of bacterial infections including that of skin, lungs, female reproductive system, blood and other internal organs. 

Dosage information

Adults are recommended to take 100 to 300mg daily, however the doctor would decide on this looking into the kind of infection and at the speed it is spreading. One needs to ensure that the prescribed dosage is taken on time to get complete results from this antibiotic. 

Strengths available

SPARQUIN is available in two strengths of 100mg and 200mg

What if you miss a dose?

Try and take the medicine on same time daily as this would help you follow the routine without missing the dose. In case, you miss the dose, take it immediately ensuring that the time to next dose is not near.

What if you overdose?

Avoid taking multiple doses, in case you overdose, get in touch with your nearby medical facility or call up your health care practitioner.

Things to be taken care of

Patients with a history of heart disease, liver diseases or even with kidney problems should exercise complete caution while taking this medicine. People with epilepsy, slow heart rate, G6PD deficiency, electrolyte disturbances or the ones who are pregnant or lactating need to consult the doctor before taking this medicine. Try and avoid direct exposure to the sunlight while taking SPARQUIN. Take in lots of fluids with this medicine to avoid the risk of crystalluria.

SPARQUIN, just like other medicines too has some side effects, these include:

§  Insomnia

§  Taste perversion

§  Flatulence

§  Vomiting

§  Dilatation of blood vessels

§  Palpitations

§  Atrial flutter

§  Mucous membrane disorder

§  Stomach flu

§  Tooth disorder

§  Drowsiness

§  Twitching

§  Abnormal gait

§  Gout

These and all the other symptoms need to be reported immediately to the doctor. If one notices, short of breath or bleeding or heart beat loss, the intake needs to be stopped immediately and the health care practitioner needs to be informed immediately.

Interaction with other drugs

SPARQUIN tends to interact with drugs such as Theophyline and Sodium phosphate. The medicine needs to be taken with water and ensure that you do not take alcohol during the course. If taking any medicine, ensure that you report this to the doctor before taking this medicine to avoid any such interactions from occurring. Inform doctor about your medical history in detail before you start taking SPARQUIN.
