LEVOFLOX 500mg
LEVOFLOX tablets are used to treat bacterial
infections in the body. This medicine might also be used to treat anthrax or
prevent plague.
How it works?
This medicine works by stopping the growth of
bacteria and killing it to bring an end to the infection.

Levofloxacin belongs to the class of quinolone
antibiotics.

Levoflox is available in two strengths 250 mg
and 500mg.
What if you miss a
dose?
Try and maintain your daily routine as this
would prevent you from missing the dose. In case, you forget to take the dose,
take it as and when you remember.
What if you overdose?
Taking an extra dose could prove harmful; make
sure that you never overdose. If you take an extra dose, talk to your doctor
immediately and if you feel uncomfortable rush to the nearby medical emergency
center immediately.
Things to be taken
care of
Some medical conditions might interact with
the intake of LEVOFLOX, inform your doctor if you:
§ Are pregnant
§ Are trying to conceive
§ Are nursing your child
§ Have a history of seizures or blood vessel
problems
§ Have any kind of stomach infection or are
taking medicine for blood pressure or diabetes
§ Are suffering from joint pains or swelling in
joints
§ Have tendon problems or have been treated for
a heart, kidney or liver related problems lately
Make sure that you do not take this medicine
without prescription and also ensure that you do not start with any new
medicine till the course ends. Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to
quinolone antibiotics.
Side Effects
Like any other antibiotic, this medicine too
can give you some discomfort in the form of following side effects:
§ Headache
§ Dizziness
§ Gas
§ Trouble sleeping
§ Nausea
§ Tightness in throat or chest
§ Severe sunburn
§ Unusual hoarseness
§ Tarry stools
§ Fever
§ Redness on face or swelling or itching
§ Painful urination
§ Decreased urination
§ Increased thirst or hunger
All these symptoms need to be reported to the
doctor immediately so that the condition dose not worsen.
Interaction with other
drugs
Levoflox might interact with drugs such as
antiarrhythmics, macrolides, pimozide, antidepressants, insulin,
corticosteroids, anticoagulants and ibuprofen. Inform your doctor if taking any
such drugs and make sure that you do not take this medicine with an antacid.
