PYZINA 500mg

Pyzina is an antibiotic usually used to treat tuberculosis along with other infections.

How it works?

Pyzina is bacteriostatic but act as a bacteriocidal by actively replicating the tuberculosis bacteria. This antibiotic is used in combination with other drugs to fight lung infections and treat tuberculosis.

Pyrazinamide is one such antibiotic that has been found highly effective on treating tuberculosis along with other lung infections. This medicine is also used to treat acute leukemia. 

Dosage information

The dosage would depend on the severity of infection and condition of the patient. One needs to make sure that the prescribed dosage is taken without a fail to get rid of the infection.

Strengths available

This medicine is available in two strength of 500mg and 750mg.

What if you miss a dose?

Make sure that you do not miss on the dose, if you do, take the one missed immediately. Try and take medicine at the same time daily this would prevent you from missing the dose or taking in more than once. 

What if you overdose?

 Immediate medical attention needs to be obtained if one overdoses. If symptoms such as dizziness or vomiting are noticed, the medical emergency number needs to be dialed in immediately.

It is to be known that Pyzina is a prescription only drug and should not be taken without consulting the doctor. If you have diabetes, liver disease, kidney problems or gout, make sure that you consult with your doctor before taking this medicine.

If you are allergic or hypersensitive do not take the medicine until prescribed by a health care practitioner. Pregnant and lactating women should not take this medicine as it could cause harm to the baby, even if you are lactating, do not take this medicine without consulting the doctor. It is strongly recommended to complete the course of Pyzina, else the bacteria could attack causing bigger harm to the lungs.

§  Dark urine

§  Acute pain or swelling in joints

§  Worsening gout

§  Pain while urinating

§  Loss of appetite

Interaction with other drugs

As like other medicines, this antibiotic too could react with other medicines and this could bring down the effects of allupurinol. Make sure that you inform your doctor about the medicines that you take and about the health ailments that you suffer from.
