Sefdin is a cephalosporin antibiotic that is prescribed in ailments such as pneumonia, chronic bronchitis, ENT infections and even in acute exacerbations.

Cefdinir is a first generation cephalosporin antibiotic that is used to treat bacterial infections of nose, ear, throat, chest and even skin. Other conditions for which this medicine is prescribed include intra abdominal infections, acute leukemia, febrile neutropenia, urinary tract infections, septicaemia and lower respiratory tract infections. 

Dosage information

In adults, the prescribed dosage is of 600 mg daily. The dose can be taken with our without food.

Strengths available

This medicine is available in the strength of 300mg.

What if you miss a dose?

One needs to ensure that not even a single dose of this antibiotic is missed. You need to take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If the time to next dose is near, then do not take the missed one, instead follow your regular routine.

What if you overdose?

The dose of this antibiotic should be taken strictly as directed by the doctor. In case, you take multiple doses by mistake, make sure that you call up your doctor or the medical emergency number of your area.

Things to be taken care of

Patients sensitive to penicillin and other antibiotics need to exercise complete caution while taking this medicine. Pregnant and lactating women and the ones trying to conceive need to update their doctor before taking this antibiotic.

Hypersensitive people or the ones prone to seizures, super infection or pseudomenbranous colitis need to inform the doctor about their past health and treatment history before taking this medicine. If you have kidney or liver problems do not take this medicine until prescribed by the doctor.

Any of these symptoms if taken light could deteriorate ones condition. Make sure that you report this to your doctor and seek immediate medical advice.

Interaction with other drugs

Do not take any iron supplement with this medicine as it might slow down the absorption rate. Intake of an antacid too is not recommended with this medicine as it could bring down the efficacy of this antibiotic.

If taking any medicine, make sure that you inform your doctor about this and if you have undergone any surgery in near future, tell about that to the doctor to prevent any such interactions from occurring.
